Go on an AI side quest with your kids
Why I’d rather my son build something he loves than do chores for Pokémon card money.
Hello friend,
My son has been obsessed with Pokémon cards lately. Every conversation somehow circles back to holographic Charizards and rare Pikachus. This week, when he started his usual campaign for more cards, I said: "Great, let's figure out how we can make money from this."
We opened ChatGPT and typed:
"My child is 8 years old and loves Pokémon. Help us brainstorm fun, simple mini-side hustles or ways he could earn some extra money, ideally using his interests or skills."
The ideas that came back were pretty cool. Some we skipped (print-on-demand stuff that would probably get us in copyright trouble), but others had us both excited: starting a Youtube channel, hosting neighborhood Pokémon clubs, offering card organizing services, reselling rare finds, creating online games, building a card organizer app.
Two ideas made him excited: the online games and the organizing app. So we started playing around with both on Lovable, my go-to no-code platform.
Here's what I’ve noticed: he approached the whole thing with zero fear and almost zero surprise. Like, of course, it can build things! He takes it for GRANTED. AI wasn't some intimidating & groundbreaking technology he needed to master. It was just a helpful brainstorm buddy and a no-nonsense tool to make his ideas come to life.
Instead of just handing him chores to earn card money, I wanted him to pursue what genuinely excited him. To get to that moment where he makes his first dollar doing something he loves and realizes, holy shit, this is actually possible.
Because I know that this feeling is like no other feeling. It’s life-changing. Once you experience that, there is no going back.
I want him to discover he can build, solve problems, and create value without boxing himself into someone else's job description. If he wants a traditional career later, fine. But I want him to know this possibility exists.

Suggest 3 simple creative projects my child and I can do together using AI tools like ChatGPT or no-code platforms. Keep it fun, age-appropriate, and curiosity-driven. Focus on projects that teach problem-solving while feeling like play. My kid is interested in [insert your kid's hobbies and interests].Works with kids, nieces, nephews, or honestly, just yourself ;).
My son's still playing around with different projects in Lovable and is still to decide which one he wants to pursue. Either way, he's about to learn the most valuable lesson I can teach him: your interests + AI can fund your freedom.
The coolest thing I’ve discovered this week
If you missed my new NotebookLM video I think this two new features (video overview and interactive audio overview) are insanely cool and I'm still getting more ideas for use cases. I go through some of them in the video, but let me know if you come up with something I’ve missed—would love to hear it!
Talk soon, Elena
